Thigh lift surgery also known as thighplasty, is a medical procedure that targets the saggy, dimpled or flabby appearance in the thigh area. Having loose fat in this area can be caused by many factors such as a sedentary lifestyle, weight gain/loss, giving birth and aging. It is normal for the skin to lose its elasticity over years especially if combined with a poor diet. Thigh lift surgery addresses these problems and creates tight, young and fresh looking thighs.
The results of this surgery are permanent. There may be an exception to this for people who continue losing weight after the operation in which case sagging pockets will continue to form on the skin. And also if the patient keeps losing and gaining weight very quickly the skin will be susceptible to stretching and deform.
• People who have loose, excess skin in their thighs.
• People whose excess skin in thigh area is causing irritation and discomfort while walking.
• People who experience low self-esteem due to the saggy, loose appearance in their thigh area while wearing skirts, shorts or while swimming and naked.
The procedure is performed under general anesthesia and takes about 2-3 hours to complete. Your doctor will cut out the excess skin, stretch and suture the new structure. Liposuction may be required in some cases where there is a lot of excess skin.
The operation leaves a flat scar on the inner sides of the grain which becomes less and less visible with care and time. Patient’s have not reported severe pain after the surgery though some pain is very normal and expected. These go away within the first few days after the surgery and pain killers might be prescribed by your doctor to help with that.
Patients can stand up right after the surgery and need to stay only one night at our facilities. They start walking comfortably in about one week after the surgery. It is advised that they refrain from heavy exercise for at least one month after surgery. Not smoking helps speed up the recovery. Mild bruising and swelling is expected which go away in a few weeks. Patients can resume work and daily activities in about one week after surgery.
