A tummy tuck procedure is used to create a flat and smooth abdominal look. It is also known as abdominoplasty and works by removing excess fat from the targeted area. This procedure can also be used to restore weak or separated muscles. The abdominal region has a structure that protects some vital internal organs which is also one of the reasons regional fat is stored there. This fat can sometimes become resistant to diet and exercise. The skin here can crack and become filled with stretch marks due to pregnancy in some women causing an aesthetically displeasing look. Also with some pregnancies, the skin here can sag. Weight gain and loss can contribute to the formation of these as well. A tummy tuck surgery addresses all of these problems and can give you a beautiful, aesthetically pleasing look which will help with your overall confidence and happiness.
• People who have excess fat in the abdominal area
• People who have excess skin and/or loss of form in their abdomen
• People who have cracks, stretch marks and other skin deformations in the skin of the abdomen
• People who would like to achieve a tighter, flatter stomach that is more aesthetically pleasing.
• People who can not get rid of abdominal fat despite diet and exercise.
A tummy tuck is performed under general anesthesia. The area that is covered in this surgery is the area from the bottom of the last rib to mons pubis. The mons pubis is the area of fatty tissue that covers the pubic bone. An incision is made inside the caesarean section and then abdominal muscles are strengthened and tightened. Some fat is removed. The area is reshaped and designed to give it a tighter and flatter look. This surgery is sometimes combined with a liposuction depending on the amount of excess fat in the area.
Today's advanced technology makes it easy for tummy tuck patients to recover fast from their surgery. They can return to their social life and daily activities within one week after surgery. There will be some stitch marks left in the body after surgery which will be skillfully placed inside the bikini line by our ITMT Group doctors. The marks will be placed as low as possible, aligned into the caesarean section. Heavy lifting or heavy exercise should be avoided for a couple of weeks post surgery as it wouldn’t be advised to apply pressure into the abdominal area.
Patients come out of surgery with a strengthened inner abdomen, proportioned waist area, a correctly positioned navel and laceration mark with skin healthy looking skin structure.
