Eyelid surgery also known as blepharoplasty is a cosmetic procedure performed to remove sagging skin and excess muscle from the lower and upper eyelids, giving the patient a younger appearance. They are also a very mobile area, they open and close thousands of times each and every day. They have a very sensitive texture. A person’s age shows itself in the eyes, eyelids and the under eyes. Eyelid surgery can help us reduce these age related problems as well.
The sagging eyelid that interferes with the vision of the patient is treated with laser technology. Afterwards the skin that is blocking the view is removed. The patient comes out looking much younger and fresh. The tired, sullen expression is gone from the face.
Under eye bags operations are extremely sensitive and important. The area is so delicate that even the slightest incision can lead to redness and bruising that can take many days to go away. This is the reason why we use laser technology which treats the area from the micro-inlets in the lower eyelid’s lower eyelash. With the use of this technology, our patients can recover from the surgery very quickly with minimum redness and bruising.
It takes around 3-4 days to recover from the operation. It can be performed under oral or locally injected anesthesia and will take about 2 hours if both the upper and lower eyelids are being operated on.
The upper lids require stitches afterwards which will stay for about 3-6 days following the operation.
