A neck lift involves multiple procedures to change the appearance of one’s neck. It is medically known as lower rhytidectomy or submental lipectomy. The operation is performed under general anesthesia or localized sedation during which ITMT Group doctors will make small incisions behind each ear and possibly under the chin depending on the patient and the desired outcome.
Using these incisions, the neck muscles can be tightened and sagging or unwanted tissues can be removed to give the patient a younger, firmer and smoother neck. Bruising and swelling are very common outcomes which typically go away within 2 weeks following the surgery.
• People with wrinkles around the neck, dull balloon image, sagging and loss of form in the neck area
• People who have deformations in neck muscles
• People who have the appearance of turkey neck or with sagged salivary glands
• People who received major surgery on their neck area such as facelift, chin implants etc and want to match the new look of their face with the neck area which is essentially a continuation of the face.
A neck lift surgery can involve many other combining techniques depending on what the patient needs. Some types of neck lifting techniques are surgical neck extension, spider web aesthetics which are done without surgery, ultherapy, hyaluronic acid containing mesotherapy or prp applications. So the procedure and how the operation will be performed will differ depending on which one of these methods will be used.
Generally speaking a neck lifting operation will be performed under local or general anesthesia. You doctor will make an incision from the front of the ears to the back and towards the hairline to the natural jaw line. After this, the sagging or deformed muscles and skin will be tightened and excess fat or tissue is removed. Then your doctor will reshape the neck by sewing it back.
Depending on which technique is used, recovery time varies from patient to patient. However generally speaking there will be bruising and swelling which will typically go away in about 2 weeks following the surgery. A little edema is common also. Depending on the techniques, 1 night of accommodation in ITMT Group facilities may be advised by your doctor. It is very normal for the neck to feel to tight for a few weeks following the surgery. This feeling will go away as the skin adapts to its new form.
