This is a fairly simple operation that is performed on an outpatient basis. General anesthesia is not used, local anesthesia is applied to the site which will receive the treatment. Once the local anesthesia is applied, your doctor will wait for about 10 minutes to make sure that the numbing effects are in place. After the area is completely numb, a small biopsy instrument will be used to make a small hole in the skin where dimples would naturally occur. Your doctor will remove a small amount of muscle and fat to create the space where the dimple would appear. Once this space is created, a sling will be positioned from one side of the cheek to the other. Afterwards the sling will be tied which will create the dimple.
Dimplepasty is perhaps the quickest operation to recover from as it is very simple. Patients can go home immediately after surgery and resume daily activities. Some swelling is normal and expected. You can apply cold presses to the area in order to help with that. Swelling will go down in just a few days after the surgery.
